METH WARNING

There is a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that all need to be aware of. There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks. It smells like strawberry also and it is being handed out to kids in school yards in AR. I'm sure it will make its way around the country if it hasn't already. Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to the E.R. in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange ~` it looks just like pop rocks. Please instruct your children to not accept candy that looks like this even from a friend and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc.

Drug Demand Reduction

Capt. Sharon Parrett

Red Ribbon Week Activity Suggestions

The vision of the Arkansas Wing Drug Demand Reduction program is to be a leading force in America's drug demand reduction strategy through the education and development of tomorrow's leaders in voluntary community service for a drug free world.

The CAP DDR program assists wings, squadrons and regions to instill an aggressive positive drug free attitude in CAP members, Air Force families, DoD civilians and school age children through a comprehensive program that promotes positive lifestyle choices, positive activities as an alternative to drugs, alcohol and gang violence, and focuses on drug abuse education, prevention and awareness.

Activities include, but are not limited to monthly briefings to members, videos and other media presentations, guest speakers, public displays of CAP activities and benefits in this area and community awareness events.

Funding for squadron-specific activities is available for those squadrons within a 30 mile radius of an active duty/guard installation with a specific number of personnel.  In Arkansas, the following squadrons are eligible: Hot Springs, Little Rock, Texarkana, Fort Smith and West Memphis. Funds may be obtained by Wing for use by other squadrons.
